What this site is for
Measure & Mend is an independent planning resource for people looking after their own homes in the United States and Canada. It combines small, deterministic calculators with source-linked project notes and climate-aware maintenance checklists.
The goal is not to replace a product label, building department, permit set, trade professional, or site inspection. It is to make the first planning step more legible: what to measure, which unit applies, how a quantity is rounded, and what could change the answer.
How the content is made
Numbers come from formulas in the site code and from cited government, standards, research, or manufacturer documents. Each numerical record carries a scope and review date. Explanatory prose is written to clarify those verified inputs; it is not presented as a personal inspection or expert-authored recommendation.
See the methodology for calculation and rounding rules, or the data sources page for the current source register.
